Prophet Hud - 11:104
We postpone it only for a numbered period.
Allah gives His servants sufficient time to correct themselves:

"Therein they cry out, "Our Lord, take us out so that we may do other deeds than what we used to do". Did We not make you live long enough for a person to take advice? And a warner came to you. So taste it. The wrongdoers have no helper."

Your Lord is Forgiving, the Owner of Mercy. If He had reckoned them immediately for what they did, He would have hastened the torment for them. But He gives them a definite term, beyond which they cannot escape.

"We admonished man to do good to his parents, and his mother carries him laboriously and gives birth to him laboriously. It takes thirty months from the time he is carried in his mother´s womb to his weaning. Finally, when he reaches the age of maturity and is forty years old, he says: "My Lord, direct me to be grateful for the favor You have bestowed on me and my parents and to do good deeds with which You are pleased. Correct my progeny. I am of those who repent and submit to You."

Had Allah punished mankind for what they used to do, He would have left no creature on the earth. But He postpones them until a certain term. When their term is over, then Allah will take account of His servants.

Instead of asking for good, they ask You to bring upon them a calamity at once, but examples have gone before them. Your Lord is forgiving to the people despite their wrongdoing. The torment of your Lord is severe.
