We do not send the angels except for a definite purpose, and then no one is given a deadline.
What else did they ask to believe?

Are they waiting for Allah and the angels to come to them from the dense clouds? Then everything would be over and everything would be returned to Allah.

"The people of the Book ask you to send down to them a Book from the sky. They had asked Moses for something greater than that and said, "Show us Allah physically". They were struck by lightning because of their transgression. They served the calf even after clear proofs came to them. Again We forgave them, and We gave Moses a clear authority."

"They say, "Should not an angel have been sent down to him!"If We had sent down an angel, the work would have been finished. They would not have been given time."
