The Family Of Imran - 3:64
"Say, "People of the Book! Come to a principle which is the same between us and you: "Let us serve none but Allah and associate with Him nothing in common, and let not one of us take the other as gods after Allah."If they refuse, say, "Bear witness, we are Muslims!"
Whom did the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) take as gods apart from Allah and associate partners with Him?
The Repentance/9:30
"The Jews said: "Uzeyr is the son of Allah". And the Christians said: "Christ is the son of Allah". This is the word of their mouths. They imitate the words of those who disbelieved before. Allah will condemn them. How are they being converted?"

"Allah will say: "O Jesus son of Mary, did you say to the people, ´Take me and my mother as gods besides Allah´?"(Jesus) will reply: "You are great, it is not befitting me to say what I have no right to say. You would have known if I had said such a thing. You know what I think, but I do not know what you think. You know all mysteries."

They took the scribes and the religious leaders and the Messiah, the son of Mary, as gods apart from God. But they were commanded to serve only one God. There is no god but Him. And He is Most High from those whom they associate as partners.
The Women/4:171
"People of the Book! Do not exceed the limits in your religion. Speak only the truth about Allah. Jesus Christ, son of Mary, is only a messenger of Allah and His word which He sent to Mary, and a life from Him. Believe in Allah and His messengers. Do not say, "There are three."Put an end to it for your own benefit. Allah alone is the only God. He is greater than having children. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. Allah is sufficient as a Surrogate."
