The Family Of Imran - 3:7
"He it is Who has sent down to you this Book. Some of its verses are clear (muhkam), which are the essence of the Book. Others are of similar meaning (mutashabih). Those whose hearts are diseased go after those with similar meanings in order to confuse people and give them different meanings. No one knows their true meaning, except Allah and those with deep knowledge who say, "We believe in it, it is from our Lord."None take admonition except those who have understanding and wisdom."
Verses that can be misunderstood when taken in isolation and must be considered in the context of the entire Qur'an to be understood:
The Cow/2:18
They are deaf, dumb and blind; they cannot change their direction.
The Criterion/25:73
When they are reminded of the Verses of their Lord, they do not turn deaf and blind to them.
The Table Spread/5:51
Believers, do not take the Jews and Christians as friends. They are friends of one another. Whoever of you befriends them is of them. Allah does not guide an unjust people.
The Table Spread/5:57
Believers, do not make friends among the people of the Book before you and among the disbelievers those who make your religion a mockery and amusement. You should listen to Allah if you are believers.
The Spoils of War/8:1
"They ask you about the spoils of war. Say: "The spoils belong to Allah and His messenger."Listen to Allah and make up your differences. Follow Allah and His messenger if you believe."
The Spoils of War/8:41
If you believe in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our servant on the Day of separation, on the Day when the two armies met, then know that one-fifth of every booty that you take belongs to Allah and His Messenger. This share is for the relatives, orphans, the poor and the stranded. Allah is the All-Sufficient.
