Why were the people of Thamud destroyed?
The Heights/7:73 "And We sent to the people of Thamud their brother Salih: "O My people, worship Allah. You have no god besides Him. A clear proof has come to you from your Lord, and this camel of Allah will be a sign for you. Let him graze on Allah´s land. Do not harm him, lest a painful torment seizes you."
The Heights/7:74 Remember that He made you heirs after the people of ´Ad. He established you in the earth. You build mansions on its plains and carve houses on its mountains. Remember the Blessings of Allah and do not create disorder in the earth.
The Heights/7:75 "The arrogant elders of his people said to the believers whom they humiliated and persecuted, "How do you know that Salih is indeed sent from his Lord?"They said: "We believe in the message he has brought"."
The Heights/7:76 "The arrogant ones said: "We deny what you believe in"."
The Heights/7:77 "They slaughtered the camel with torture and rebelled against the command of their Lord: "Salih, if you are indeed one of the Messengers, bring upon us the torment of which you threatened us"."
The Heights/7:79 "So he turned away from them and said: "O my people, I have conveyed to you the messenger of my Lord, and I have counseled you, but you do not love those who counsel"."

Prophet Hud/11:61 "And to Thamud sent their brother Salih. He said: "O my people, serve Allah, there is no god but Him. It is He who brought you out of the earth and created you and settled you therein. So seek forgiveness from Him and then turn to Him. Surely my Lord is Near, the Answerer."
Prophet Hud/11:62 "They said: "O Salih, before this you were a popular source of hope among us. Do you now forbid us from what our forefathers used to serve? We are in doubt about what you call us to."
Prophet Hud/11:63 "He said: "O my people, what if I have a clear proof from my Lord and He has given me mercy from Him? Who can save me from Allah if I rebel against Him? You can only increase my losses?"
Prophet Hud/11:64 O my people, this camel of Allah is a sign for you. Let it graze on Allah´s land. Do not harm him. Otherwise a close torment will seize you.
Prophet Hud/11:65 "But they slaughtered him with torture. "You have three days to live in your land. This is a promise that is not a lie."
Prophet Hud/11:66 When Our Command came, We saved Salih and those who believed with him from the disgrace of that day with a Mercy from Us. Your Lord is surely Mighty and Powerful.
Prophet Hud/11:67 The wrongdoers were seized by a terrible sound and they collapsed in their homes.
Prophet Hud/11:68 It was as if they had never lived there. Indeed the people of Thamud disobeyed their Lord; Thamud was destroyed.

The Night Journey/17:59 The fact that those before denied them did not prevent Us from sending signs. For example, We had clearly given the camel to Thamud. But they wronged him. We send the signs only as a warning.

The Ants/27:45 "We sent to Thamud their brother Salih to say to them, "Serve Allah."Thereupon they divided into two groups disputing."
The Ants/27:46 "My people,"he said, "why do you hasten to do evil instead of good? Should you not ask forgiveness from Allah that you may be shown mercy?"
The Ants/27:47 "They said, "You and those with you have jinxed us."He said, "Your bad luck is from Allah. Surely you are a people who are put to a test."
The Ants/27:48 There was a gang of nine in the city; they were making mischief in the region and never did anything good.
The Ants/27:49 "They swore by Allah and said to one another, "Let us make a night raid on him and his family and then tell his tribe that we know nothing about their death and that we speak the truth."
The Ants/27:50 So they devised a plan, but We devised a plan before they realized it.
The Ants/27:51 Look how their plan came to fruition; We destroyed them with their people.
The Ants/27:52 Here are their houses collapsed because of their wrongdoing. There must be a lesson in this for a people who know.
