The Women - 4:153
"The people of the Book ask you to send down to them a Book from the sky. They had asked Moses for something greater than that and said, "Show us Allah physically". They were struck by lightning because of their transgression. They served the calf even after clear proofs came to them. Again We forgave them, and We gave Moses a clear authority."

"Moses chose seventy men from among his people for an appointment with us. When a tremor seized them, they said: "My Lord, if You had willed, You would have destroyed them and me before. Will You destroy us because of what the foolish among us have done? This must be a test arranged by You. Whomsoever You will, You will lead astray by it, and whomsoever You will, You will guide by it. You are our Master; forgive us and have pity on us. You are the best Forgiver."
