The Jinn - 72:9 We used to sit there as spies, but now whoever wants to listen will find a ball of fire watching him.
In the context of verses 8, 9, 10; the devils try to eavesdrop on Allah's fold to spy on the mysteries of the heavens and the earth by crossing the boundaries of the universe, but they are not allowed:
The Rocky Tract/15:16 We placed galaxies in the sky and adorned them for those who observe.
The Rocky Tract/15:17 And We have protected them from every exorcised devil.
The Prophets/21:32 We made the sky a protected ceiling. Yet they are indifferent to the signs in it.
Explained in Detail/41:12 So He completed them in two days as seven heavens and revealed to each heaven its special laws. And We equipped the lowest heaven with lamps and a system of protection. This is the plan of the Supreme and All-Knowing.
The Kingdom/67:5 We adorned the lowest heavens with lamps and made them a stoning for the devils, and We prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire.
The Jinn/72:1 "Say, "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said:""We have heard an interesting Qur´an."
The Jinn/72:2 It guides to the truth, and we have believed in it; henceforth we will not associate anyone with our Lord.
The Jinn/72:3 Our Lord is the Most High. He has not taken a wife or a child.
The Jinn/72:4 It was that foolish one of ours who spoke nonsense about Allah.
The Jinn/72:5 We thought that mankind and jinn could not invent a lie against Allah.
The Jinn/72:6 But some men used to take refuge with some jinn, and that increased their transgression.
The Jinn/72:7 They thought that Allah would not send anyone, just as you think.
The Jinn/72:8 We touched the heaven and found it guarded by strong guards and balls of fire.
The Jinn/72:9 We used to sit there as spies, but now whoever wants to listen will find a ball of fire watching him.
The Jinn/72:10 We do not know whether evil is planned for those on the earth or whether their Lord has willed good for them.
Those Who Set The Ranks/37:6 We adorned the lowest heaven with planets,
Those Who Set The Ranks/37:7 We have made a protection against every stubborn devil.
Those Who Set The Ranks/37:8 They cannot listen to the great assembly; they are thrown from every side.
Those Who Set The Ranks/37:9 They will be expelled; they deserve a torment everlasting.
Those Who Set The Ranks/37:10 If a word is snatched away, it is followed by a piercing ray.
The Poets/26:210 It has not been sent down by the devils.
The Poets/26:211 They are neither able nor capable of it.
The Poets/26:212 Because they are barred from hearing.
The Most Gracious/55:33 O mankind and the jinn, if you are able to cross the boundaries of the heavens and the earth, do so. You cannot cross without authorization.
The Most Gracious/55:35 Gatherings and rays of fire will be sent upon you, and you will not be helped.
