The Most High - 87:5 Then He turns it into dry and blackened straw.
In the context of verses 4, 5: The life of this world is transitory and the abode of the Hereafter is an eternal abode:
The Iron/57:20 Know that the life of this world is but play, amusement, adornment, boasting among yourselves, and a race to multiply money and children. It is like the rain that makes a plant grow which the disbelievers like. But then the plant withers and turns yellow and becomes rubbish. In the Hereafter there is a severe punishment from Allah and forgiveness and contentment. The life of this world is but a temporary pleasure that deceives.
Prophet Jonah/10:23 And when He rescues them, they begin to transgress in the earth unjustly. O people, your excesses are against yourselves. You are fond of the transient pleasures of this world´s life, but to Us is your return, and We will inform you of all that you do.
Prophet Jonah/10:24 The life of this world is like this example: the water We send down from the sky mixes with the plants that people and animals eat. This lasts until the earth is adorned and its inhabitants think that they have dominion over nature. Then Our command comes to it by night or by day. We make it uproot itself as if it had not possessed anything the day before. Thus do We explain the verses for a people who reflect.
The Family Of Imran/3:14 Pleasures such as women, children, heaps of gold and silver, trained horses, cattle and crops seem attractive to people. These are the blessings of the life of this world. But the best destination is with Allah.
The Thunder/13:26 Allah increases or decreases provision for whom He wills. They rejoice in the life of this world, while the life of this world is but a subsistence compared to the Hereafter.
The Companies/39:21 Do you not see that Allah sends down water from the sky and causes it to flow into springs in the earth, then He brings forth with it plants of various colors? Then it dries up and you see it yellow. Then He turns it to rubbish. In this is an admonition for those of understanding
The Forgiver/40:39 O my people, the life of this world is a temporary livelihood. The abode of the Hereafter is an everlasting abode.
The Women/4:94 "Believers, be careful when you go out to fight in the way of Allah. Do not say to anyone who offers you peace, "You do not believe,"for the temporary benefit of this world´s life. For with Allah is much booty. You were like them before, but Allah has favored you. So search well and be sure. Allah is All-Knowing of what you do."
The Spoils of War/8:67 It is not befitting any prophet to take captives in the earth without fighting. You seek the temporal goods of this world, but Allah desires (for you) the Hereafter. Allah is Superior, Wise.
The Family Of Imran/3:185 Everyone will taste death. On the Day of Resurrection your rewards will be given to you in full. And whoever is rescued from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he is victorious. The life of this world is but a deceitful pleasure.
The Night Journey/17:18 Whoever desires this transitory world, We give therein as much as We will to whom We will. Then We will condemn him to Hell, condemned and dismissed.
The Light/24:33 And those who do not have the means to marry, let them be chaste until Allah enriches them with His bounty. And those captives who wish to obtain a certificate of freedom through marriage - if their intentions are honest - let them go free. And give them out of what Allah has given you. Do not force your daughters who wish to be chaste into prostitution for the temporary benefits of this world. Whoever compels them, then Allah takes into account their compulsion; He is Forgiving, Merciful.
The Cave/18:45 Give them as an example of the life of this world the plant of the earth, which is nourished by the water We send down from the sky and then turns to rubbish blown away by the wind. Allah is all-powerful.
The Cave/18:46 Money and children are the attractive materials of this world´s life. But the righteous deeds that will endure are far better in the sight of your Lord as a reward and hope.
The Ornaments of Gold/43:33 Had it not been that all mankind would have been one people (in disbelief), We would have furnished the houses of those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful with silver ceilings and stairs for them to climb up.

The Ornaments of Gold/43:35 And many ostentatious materials. All this is the temporary material of this worldly life. But the Hereafter is for the righteous in the Presence of your Lord.
The Resurrection/75:20 But you love the transient.

The Man/76:27 They love this transient and do not care for a heavy day ahead of them.
The Cattle/6:32 The life of this world is but play and amusement. Better for the righteous is the abode of the Hereafter. Do you not think?
The Cattle/6:70 Leave those who take their religion as a pastime and are deceived by the life of this world. Remind them with this (the Qur´an) so that a person may not suffer the disastrous consequences of what he has earned. He has no Owner and intercessor except Allah. Even if he gives any ransom, it will not be accepted from him. These are the ones who suffer the disastrous consequences of what they have earned; they deserve a drink of boiling water and a painful torment because of their disbelief.
The Repentance/9:38 "O you who believe, what has happened to you that when you were told, "Take action in the way of Allah,"you fell to the ground? Are you content with the life of this world instead of the Hereafter? The blessings of the life of this world are little compared to the life of the Hereafter."
Prophet Jonah/10:7 Those who do not hope to meet Us, those who love the life of this world and cling to it, and those who are heedless of Our signs
Ta-Ha/20:131 Do not covet the ornaments of the life of this world which We have given to some of them as a test. Better and lasting is what your Lord has prepared for you.
The Stories/28:60 All that is given to you is the wealth and ornaments of this world´s life. Better and lasting is that which is with Allah. Do you not understand?
The Stories/28:61 Is he to whom We have promised a good reward, like him to whom We have blessed him with the wealth of this world´s life, and then he will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection?
The Stories/28:79 "At one time he came out among his people in all his splendor. Those who chose the life of this world said: "If only we had been given the like of what was given to Karun. Indeed, he is a very lucky man"."
The Spider/29:64 The life of this world is nothing but amusement and play. And the abode of the Hereafter is the true life, if only they knew.
Luqman/31:33 O people, listen to your Lord and fear the Day when the father will not be able to help his child nor the child help the father. The Word of Allah is the truth. Let not the life of this world deceive you, nor let the deceivers deceive you with Allah.
Originator/35:5 O people, the word of Allah is truth; let not the life of this world deceive you. Let not the deceiver deceive you about Allah.
Council/42:36 Whatever you have been given is the sustenance of the life of this world. But what is with Allah is better and lasting for those who believe and trust in their Lord.
Muhammad/47:36 The life of this world is but play and amusement. If you believe and act righteously, He will give you your rewards. He does not ask you for your money.
The Star/53:29 Pay no attention to him who turns away from Our Message and desires nothing but the life of this world.
Those Who Pull Out/79:38 And as for those who prefer the life of this world.
Those Who Pull Out/79:39 Their destination will be Hell.
The Most High/87:16 But you choose the life of this world.
The Most High/87:17 But the Hereafter is better and lasting.
