The Spoils of War - 8:29
O you who believe, if you listen to Allah, He will give you understanding to distinguish right from wrong, and He will cover your evil deeds and forgive you. Allah is the Owner of Great Grace.
The believers avoid major sins and do not persist in sin:
The Family Of Imran/3:135
Those who, when they commit a sin or wrong themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins. Who can forgive sins except Allah? And they do not go on sinning knowingly.
The Prophets/21:87
"And ZanNun (i.e. Jonah, whose name has the letter ´Nun´ in it)... He left his post in protest. He thought that We could not control him. Finally, in the darkness (in the belly of the fish) he said, "There is no god but You. You are almighty. I have done wrong,"he pleaded."
The Prophets/21:88
We responded to his supplication and delivered him from sorrow. This is how We deliver those who believe.
The Stories/28:15
"He entered the city while his people were unaware. He saw two men fighting there, one from his side (Hebrew) and the other from the enemy´s side (Egyptian). The man from his side asked him for help against his enemy. So Moses struck the other with a blow and finished him off. He said, "This is the work of Satan; he is an enemy, a clear misleader."

"My Lord,"he said, "I have wronged myself, forgive me."And He forgave him. For He is Forgiving, Merciful."

Council/42:37
Those who avoid the great sins and the ugly deeds and forgive when they are angry.
The Star/53:32
They avoid the great sins and evil deeds and commit only minor offenses. The forgiveness of your Lord is great. He knows you well when He created you from dust and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not justify yourselves. He knows well the righteous.
The Light/24:17
Allah admonishes you so that you may not repeat the like. If you are believers.
The Women/4:31
If you avoid the great prohibitions, We will cover your sins and admit you with an honorable entrance.
The Criterion/25:67
They are neither extravagant nor stingy in their giving, but spend in balance between the two.
The Criterion/25:68
They do not invoke other gods along with Allah; they do not kill unjustly the life which Allah has forbidden, nor do they commit adultery. He who commits these things pays for his sins.
The Criterion/25:69
On the Day of Resurrection their punishment will be multiplied, and they will abide therein forever, despised
The Criterion/25:70
Except those who believe and lead a virtuous life. Allah turns their sins into good deeds. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
