The Repentance - 9:25 Allah helped you on many occasions. On the day of Hunayn you were proud of your numbers. But your numbers did you no good. Indeed, the earth became narrow for you despite its vastness and you turned and fled.
In the context of verses 25, 26, 27; about the hypocrites who stayed back from the battle and then repented:

The Repentance/9:26 Then Allah sent down on His Apostle and the believers security and comfort from Himself, and He sent down armies that you did not see, and so He punished the disbelievers. This is the punishment of the disbelievers.
The Repentance/9:27 Indeed Allah accepts the repentance of whom He wills in the end. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
The Repentance/9:102 And the others confessed their sins and confused good deeds with evil deeds. It is hoped that Allah may forgive them. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
The Repentance/9:106 Another group awaits the judgment of Allah. He will either punish them or accept their repentance. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

The Coalition/33:23 There are such of the believers who have fulfilled their promise to Allah. Some of them fulfilled their pledge (became martyrs) and some of them are waiting. They have never wavered.
The Coalition/33:24 Thus Allah rewards the truthful with their truthfulness. And He punishes the hypocrites if He wills, or accepts their repentance. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

The Repentance/9:117 Allah has accepted the repentance of the Messenger and those who emigrated and those who helped. They followed him at a time of difficulty when some of them almost lost heart. Then He accepted their turning (repentance). He is Most Compassionate towards them, Most Merciful.
The Repentance/9:118 (He accepted the repentance) of those three who remained behind. The earth had become narrow for them despite its vastness. They were overwhelmed. At last they realized that they could not escape Allah. So He turned to them to turn to Him. Allah is the All-Approving, All-Merciful.

The Victory/48:11 "Those who stayed behind from the Arabs will say, "Our money and our children have kept us back; ask forgiveness for us."They do not say what is in their hearts but with their tongues. Say, "Who can prevent Allah if He wills for you harm or benefit?"But Allah is well aware of all that you do."
The Victory/48:16 "Say to the remnant of the Arabs, "You will be called upon against a powerful people. You will fight them until they surrender. If you obey, Allah will give you a good reward. If you turn away, as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful torment."

The Repentance/9:14 Fight them, so that Allah may punish them with your hands and make you victorious, and give relief to the believing people,
The Repentance/9:15 Remove the anger from their hearts. Allah accepts the repentance of whom He wills. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

The Spoils of War/8:33 Allah will not torment them while you are among them. Nor will Allah punish them while they ask forgiveness.
