The disbelievers of the People of the Book did not demand miracles in order to believe, but in order to make things difficult and not to believe. Even if a miracle came, they would not believe:
The racist and jealous disbelievers of the People of the Book have always denied the Books, the Prophets and the miracles unless they were revealed to one of them:
Generations destroyed before:
Why were the previous generations destroyed?
How were the previous guilty generations destroyed?
Those who go too far in disbelief are condemned to disbelief:
Prophet Muhammad blamed himself for his people's denial and disbelief. Our Lord reassured him by informing him that past peoples had treated messengers in the same way, that the messenger's duty was only to convey the revelation and that he was not responsible for those who did not believe.
