In the context of verses 5, 6...9; the people of the book, who had taken the prophets as gods besides God, argued with Prophet Muhammad in accordance with their desire and wanted to make additions or changes to the revelation in order to compromise, and Prophet Muhammad almost compromised on this issue in order to make them believe:

Those who, deceived by Satan, take gods besides Allah and serve and serve them, will be abandoned by their gods on the Day of Resurrection, and then they will realize how they have gone astray.
