The Messenger's duty is to warn:

With Allah is the knowledge of the Hour (the last hour of the world):

The end of the world is at an appointed time:

Only the unbelievers will witness the horror of the end of the world:

The believers fear the evil reckoning, they do not think that they will be saved, but they hope to be saved:

In the context of verses 42, 43...46; a reference to the unbelievers who defiantly ask about the time of the end of the hour/world, confident that it will never happen:
