بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
12:1 A.L.R. These (letters) are the miracles of the manifest Book.
12:2 We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur´an so that you may understand.
12:3 By revealing this Qur´an to you, We relate to you history in the most beautiful narration. You were previously unaware of this.
12:4 "Joseph once said to his father: "My father, I saw the eleven planets, the sun and the moon, and I saw them prostrating themselves to me."
12:5 "(His father Jacob said:) "My child,"he said, "do not tell your dream to your brothers, lest they plot against you. For Satan is a clear enemy of man."
12:6 So your Lord chooses you, and teaches you the interpretation of dreams, and completes His favor upon you and upon the family of Jacob, as He completed His favor upon your fathers Abraham and Isaac before you. Your Lord is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
12:7 There are lessons in Joseph and his brothers for those who wish:
12:8 "(His brothers) said: "Our father loves Joseph and his brother more than us, and we are the majority. Our father is clearly in the wrong."
12:9 Kill Joseph, or send him away to a distant place so that your father´s attention may be focused on you. Then you will be a righteous people.
12:10 "One of them said: "Do not kill Joseph, but throw him into the bottom of the well. Then one of the caravans may find him and take him away."
12:11 ". They said: "O our father, why do you not trust us about Joseph, for we are his dearest friends?"
12:12 Send him with us so that he may run and play. Surely We will protect him.
12:13 "He said: "It worries me that you take him away. I fear that the wolf will eat him without your knowledge."
12:14 "They said: "If the wolf eats him while we are a large group, then we are indeed the losers."
12:15 "When they took him away and decided collectively to throw him into the bottom of the well, We revealed to him: "(Do not grieve) You will tell them what they have done when they will not be aware of it."
12:17 "O our father,"they said, "we left Joseph with our belongings, and the wolf ate him. Even if we speak the truth, you will not believe us."
12:18 "They had falsely smeared blood on his shirt. He said: "Indeed, your ego has driven you to something. My part is to bear (this pain) well. Only Allah can be asked for help against your conspiracy."
12:19 "A caravan passing by sent its waterman, and when he lowered his bucket, he said: "Good news, here is a baby boy!"They kept him as a commodity. God knew what they were doing."
12:20 They did not need him, so they sold him at a cheap price, for a few dirhams.
