بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

38:1 By this Qur´an, which contains the message.

38:2 Indeed, those who disbelieve are in arrogance and disunity.
5
38:3 We destroyed many generations before them, and they cried out, but it was not the time of salvation.

38:4 "They thought it strange that a warner should come to them from among themselves. The disbelievers said, "This is a sorcerer, a liar."

38:5 He made the gods one god? This is very strange indeed!

38:6 "Their leaders rushed forward and said, "Go on, stick to your gods. This is all that is required of you."

38:7 We have not heard anything like this in the last religion; it is a fabrication.

38:8 "Why was the Message revealed to him from among us?"Indeed, they are in doubt about My Message. No, they have not yet tasted the torment."

38:9 Or are the treasures of mercy of your Lord, the Exalted and the Bestower, with them?

38:10 Or does the government of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them belong to them? Let them glorify themselves.

38:11 Rather they are a defeated army, party by party.

38:12 Before them were the people of Noah and the people of Ad and Pharaoh, the owner of the pyramids.

38:13 So did Thamud, the people of Lot and the Aykelites. They were parties.

38:14 They all denied the messengers and deserved My punishment.

38:15 They are waiting for a single explosion which will not be repaired.

38:16 "And they challenged, "Our Lord, give us our share in haste before the Day of Reckoning."

38:17 Be patient with their words, and remember David, a skillful servant of ours, who always turned (to God).

38:18 We placed the mountains at his command; they glorified (God) with him at evening and at dawn.

38:19 The birds also were gathered together; they all followed his command.

38:20 We strengthened his government; We gave him wisdom and good judgment.
