بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
4:1 Mankind! Listen to your Lord Who created you from a single soul and created from it its mate, and from the two of them produced many men and women. Honor Allah in whose name you make requests of one another, and honor your relatives. Surely Allah is Watching over you.
4:2 Give to the orphans their property. Do not exchange the clean for the unclean. And do not eat their property with your own. That would be a great injustice.
4:3 If you fear that you cannot do justice to the orphans, you may marry two, three, or four wives as you see fit. If you fear that you cannot treat them equally, then limit yourself to one, or to those to whom your oaths/agreements entitle you. This is the best for you not to deviate
4:4 Give the women their full amount. If they voluntarily give you part of it, you may eat it in peace of mind.
4:5 Do not give to the unwise what Allah has made you guardians of. Feed them (orphans) with it, clothe them, and have good communication with them.
4:6 Test the orphans when they reach the age of marriage. If you see maturity in them, give them their property. Do not eat their wealth in extravagance and haste, lest they grow up. Let the rich give up (the wages of his efforts to protect the property). Let the poor spend an appropriate amount. Return their property to them in the presence of witnesses. Allah is sufficient as the Reckoner.
4:7 There is a share for men of what the parents and relatives leave. And for the women a share of what the parents and relatives leave. Whether the inheritance is little or much, (the woman) must take a share
4:8 If relatives, orphans and the poor are present at the division of the inheritance, give to them also, saying kind words.
4:9 Beware of those who leave behind weak children and are concerned about their welfare! Let them think of Allah and make appropriate decisions.
4:10 Those who eat the property of orphans unjustly will fill their bellies with fire and will end up in Hell.
4:11 Allah admonishes you about your children. The man gets twice the share of the woman. If the heirs are only women and there are more than two of them, they inherit two-thirds of the estate. If the child is only a woman, she gets half of the inheritance. If the deceased left children, each of the parents gets one-sixth. If he has no children and only his parents are his heirs, then his mother is entitled to one-third. If he has siblings, then his mother gets one-sixth. All these proportions come after the deceased´s will and the payment of debts. You do not know which of your mothers and fathers and children is better for you. This is the law of Allah. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
4:12 Half of the inheritance left by your wives is yours if they have no children. If they have children, a quarter of what they leave is yours. This share is after the payment of their debts and the distribution of the shares in their wills. If you do not have children, a quarter of what you leave is theirs. If you have children, one-eighth of what you leave is theirs. This share is after your debts have been paid and the shares in your wills have been distributed. If the man or woman who inherits has no children and no spouse, but has one brother or one sister, then one-sixth shall go to each of them. If they are more than that, they share one third. This division should be done after the distribution of the shares in the will and the payment of debts so that no one is harmed. This is a will from Allah. Allah is All-Knowing, All-compassionate.
4:13 These are the laws of Allah. He will place those who follow Allah and His messenger in Gardens through which rivers flow. They will stay there permanently. This is the greatest success.
4:14 Whoever disobeys Allah and His messenger and transgresses His laws, He will admit him into a Fire in which he will abide forever. For him is a humiliating torment.
4:15 Bring four witnesses from among you against those of your women who commit fornication. If they testify, keep them in houses until they die or until Allah makes a way for them.
4:16 Punish the couple among you who commit adultery. If they repent and reform, forsake them. Allah is All-accepting, All-merciful.
4:17 To Allah belongs the acceptance of the repentance of those who commit an evil out of ignorance and then repent. Allah accepts their repentance. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
4:18 "The repentance of those who do evil continually and when death overtakes them say, "I have repented"is invalid. And the repentance of those who die as disbelievers is void. For them is a painful torment."
4:19 Believers! It is not lawful for you to inherit the property of women against their wishes. Do not press them to take back from them what you have already given them. Except when they commit fornication. Get along well with them. If you dislike them, Allah has put much good in what you dislike.
4:20 If you want to leave your present wife and marry another wife, do not take anything back from her, even if you have given a large sum to the first one. Will you take it back by fraud and slander and sin?
