بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
49:1 O you who believe, do not take the lead in the presence of Allah and His messenger. Listen to Allah. Allah Hears, Knows.
49:2 O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Messenger and do not shout at him as you shout at one another. Otherwise your deeds will be in vain without you realizing it.
49:3 Those who lower their voices in the presence of the Messenger of Allah are such that Allah has made their hearts fit for righteousness. For them is forgiveness and a great reward.
49:4 Most of those who call out to you from behind rooms/walls are thoughtless.
49:5 It would have been better for them if they had been patient until you came out to them. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
49:6 O you who believe, if someone of evil disposition brings you news, investigate it. Otherwise you may unknowingly commit injustice against a people and then you may regret what you have done.
49:7 Know that the Messenger of Allah is among you. Had he followed you in most of the affairs, you would have been in distress. But Allah has endeared to you the faith and adorned it in your hearts, and He has made disbelief, evil and rebellion ugly to you. These are they who follow the truth.
49:8 Such is the grace and favor of Allah. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
49:9 And if two groups of the believers fight against each other, reconcile them. If one of them attacks the other, fight the aggressor until he returns to the command of Allah. If they return, then settle their differences impartially and do justice. Allah loves those who do justice.
49:10 The believers are brothers. Set things right between your brothers. Honor Allah so that you may be merciful.
49:11 O you who believe, let not one community mock at another community, lest they be better than themselves. And let not women mock at women; perhaps they are better than themselves. And do not reproach one another and do not call one another by derogatory words. What an evil name is to go astray after faith. Whoever does not repent, they are the wrongdoers.
49:12 O you who believe, beware of conjecture, for part of conjecture is sin. Do not inquire into one another´s secret things and do not backbite one another. Do you like to eat the flesh of your dead brother? Surely you abhor it. Listen to Allah. Allah is All-accepting of repentance, All-merciful.
49:13 O people, We created you from a male and a female and divided you into races and tribes so that you may know one another. The most worthy of you with Allah is the most virtuous. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Knowing.
49:14 "The Arabs said: "We believe". Say, "You have not believed, but say, ´We have submitted´ until belief has entered your hearts. If you follow Allah and His Messenger, He will not diminish anything of what you used to do. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."
49:15 Those are the believers who believed in Allah and His messenger, then they did not doubt, and they fought in the Way of Allah with their money and their lives. They are the righteous.
49:16 "Say, "Do you teach Allah your religion? Allah knows what is in the heavens and the earth. Allah is All-Knowing."
49:17 "They want to put you under obligation because they have become Muslims (surrendered). Say, "Do not put your Islam on my head. Indeed, Allah will consider you indebted to Him for bringing you to faith, if you are truthful."
49:18 Allah knows the secrets of the heavens and the earth. Allah is the All-Seeing of what you do.
