بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
5:1 Believers, keep your agreements. Animals have been made lawful for you except those which are to be recited to you. Provided that you do not hunt while you are in ihram. Allah judges as He wills.
5:2 Believers! Do not disrespect the religious rites established by God, nor the holy month, nor the sacrifice, nor the wreaths that mark them, nor those who set out for the Holy House to seek the favor of their Lord. When you come out of Ihram, you may hunt. Do not become provoked and aggressive out of spite against a community that has turned you away from the Holy Mosque. Cooperate in goodness and virtue. Do not cooperate in evil and enmity. Listen to Allah. Allah´s punishment is severe.
5:3 Forbidden to you are carrion, blood, the flesh of swine and what is dedicated to none but Allah. Except that you slaughter them before they are dead, animals that have been strangled, shot, fallen, gored and eaten by beasts, and those slaughtered on sacred stones and distributed with fortune-telling arrows, yes, these are evil. The unbelievers have despaired of your religion today. Do not fear them; fear Me. Today I have perfected your religion for you, I have completed My blessing upon you, and I have chosen Islam as your religion. Whoever is in hardship because of hunger and eats without any temptation to sin, there is no sin on him. For Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
5:4 "They ask you what is lawful for them. Say, "Pure food is lawful for you. And eat that which Allah has taught you, and that which you have trained for you from what Allah has taught you, and that which the hunting animals such as the dog and the hawk have caught for you, and mention the name of Allah over it."Listen to Allah. Allah is quick in reckoning."
5:5 Today good and pure things have been made lawful for you. The food of the people of the Book is lawful for you. And your food is lawful for them. And it is lawful for you to marry chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Book before you, provided that you pay them their marriage-money and do not commit adultery and do not keep secret friends. And whoever refuses to believe, all that he has done has been in vain, and he is of the losers in the Hereafter.
5:6 Believers! When you rise for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows. Splash your head, and your feet up to the heels, and wash if you have had sexual intercourse. And if you are sick or a traveler, or you have come from the toilet, or you have had sexual intercourse with women and you cannot find water, then turn to a clean piece of earth and rub your face and arms with it. Allah does not wish to cause you any hardship. He only wants to purify you and complete His favor upon you. That you may give thanks.
5:7 "Remember Allah´s favor upon you and the covenant you made with Him: "We heard and obeyed". Listen to Allah; Allah knows what is in you."
5:8 Believers! Bear witness for Allah with justice. Let not your hatred against a people prevent you from acting justly. It is more virtuous to act justly. Listen to Allah. Allah is aware of what you do.
5:9 Allah has promised forgiveness and a great reward for those who believe and do good deeds.
5:10 As for those who disbelieved and denied Our signs, they are the inhabitants of Hell.
5:11 Believers! Remember the favor of Allah upon you: When a people tried to lay hands on you, but He withdrew their hands from you. Listen to Allah. Let the believers trust in Allah.
5:12 "Allah had taken a promise from the Children of Israel and We sent twelve leaders from among them. Allah said: "I am with you if you observe the prayer, pay the zakat, believe in My messengers and respect them, and lend to Allah a good debt. I will cover your sins and give you gardens in which rivers flow. So whoever of you disbelieves after that has gone astray from the right path."
5:13 We cursed them and hardened their hearts because they broke their promises. They take the meaning of words out of context. They have forgotten some of what they were warned about. From most of them you will see constant betrayal. Forgive them and ignore them. Allah loves those who do good.
5:14 "We also took a promise from those who said, "We are Christians,"but they too forgot some of what they were warned about. So We put enmity and hatred between them until the Day of Resurrection. Allah will inform them of all that they did."
5:15 People of the Book, our messenger has come to you, who has revealed to you many parts of the Book which you have concealed, and many of them he has not thrown in your faces. And there has come to you a light from Allah and a clear Book.
5:16 By it Allah guides those who seek His pleasure to the paths of peace and tranquility, and by His permission He guides them to the straight path, bringing them out of darkness into light.
5:17 "Those who say: "Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary,"have certainly disbelieved. Say: "If Allah wishes to destroy the Messiah, son of Mary, and his mother, and even all those on the earth, who can prevent it?"To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. He creates what He wills. Allah is the Almighty."
5:18 "The Jews and Christians said, "We are the children and lovers of Allah. "Then why does He punish you for your sins? You are only of His creation,"say. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and to Him is the return."
5:19 "People of the Book! Our apostle has come to you after a period of gap between the apostles, and he is telling you the truth so that you may not say: "There has not come to us a bearer of glad tidings and a warner". Behold, a bearer of glad tidings and a warner has come to you. Allah is the Almighty."
5:20 "Moses said to his people: "O my people, remember the favor of Allah upon you: He has raised up prophets from among you, He has made you free, and He has given you what He has not given to any of the people."
