The Women - 4:72 "There are those among you who are slow. If a calamity befalls you, he says, "Allah has been good to me so that I did not fall a martyr with them"."
Difficult situations/times expose hypocrites and true believers:
The Repentance/9:117 Allah has accepted the repentance of the Messenger and those who emigrated and those who helped. They followed him at a time of difficulty when some of them almost lost heart. Then He accepted their turning (repentance). He is Most Compassionate towards them, Most Merciful.
The Repentance/9:118 (He accepted the repentance) of those three who remained behind. The earth had become narrow for them despite its vastness. They were overwhelmed. At last they realized that they could not escape Allah. So He turned to them to turn to Him. Allah is the All-Approving, All-Merciful.
The Victory/48:11 "Those who stayed behind from the Arabs will say, "Our money and our children have kept us back; ask forgiveness for us."They do not say what is in their hearts but with their tongues. Say, "Who can prevent Allah if He wills for you harm or benefit?"But Allah is well aware of all that you do."
The Family Of Imran/3:172 Those believers who followed the call of Allah and His messenger even after they were wounded in battle. For those who do good and do righteous deeds there is a great reward.
The Coalition/33:22 "When the believers see the parties (ready to attack), they say, "This is what Allah and His messenger promised us. Allah and His messenger have spoken the truth."This (dangerous situation) only strengthened their faith and submission."
The Coalition/33:23 There are such of the believers who have fulfilled their promise to Allah. Some of them fulfilled their pledge (became martyrs) and some of them are waiting. They have never wavered.
The Repentance/9:83 "If Allah were to give you again an opportunity when a group of them would ask your permission to go on an expedition, say, "You will not go out with me on campaign forever, and you will not fight any enemy with me. Because at first you chose to sit down. So sit down with the rest."
The Repentance/9:86 "When a Surah came down saying, "Believe in Allah and strive hard with His Messenger,"even the powerful and wealthy of them asked your permission and said, "Let us go and be with those who sit down."
The Repentance/9:87 They consented to be with those who remained behind. Then their hearts were sealed. Therefore they cannot understand.
The Repentance/9:88 But the apostle and those who were with him strived with their money and their lives. They deserve all the favors. They are the winners.
The Repentance/9:93 Only those who asked you for permission while they were rich are reprehensible. They asked to be with those who stayed behind, and Allah stamped their hearts. Therefore they do not know.
Muhammad/47:20 "The believers used to say, "What if a period (permitting war) were sent down?"But when a clear surah is sent down and war is mentioned in it, you see those in whose hearts is a disease looking at you as one faints for fear of death. It is suitable for them,"
The Family Of Imran/3:166 What happened to you on the day when the two armies clashed was by Allah´s Leave. Thus are the believers distinguished.
The Family Of Imran/3:167 "Thus are the hypocrites exposed. When it was said to them, "Come, fight in the way of Allah or contribute", they said, "If we knew about war, we would have joined you". At that moment they were closer to disbelief than to faith. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts. But Allah knows very well what they conceal."
The Family Of Imran/3:140 If a hardship has touched you, a similar hardship has touched the enemy community. We turn over such days among the people so that Allah may distinguish the true believers and make some of you witnesses. Allah does not love the wrongdoers.
The Family Of Imran/3:141 Allah thus strengthens the believers and breaks the pride of the disbelievers.

The Women/4:77 "Have you not paid attention to those who were told, "Keep your hands off the war, observe the prayer and pay the zakat"? When they were commanded to fight, they began to fear mankind as they feared Allah, perhaps more, and they said, "Our Lord, why have you burdened us with war, could you not have postponed it until a near time?"Say, "This world is but a little, and the Hereafter is better for the righteous, and you will not be wronged in the slightest."
The Spider/29:10 "There are some of the people who say, "We believe in Allah,"but when they suffer hardship in the way of Allah, they take the oppression and torture of the people as Allah´s punishment. But when a victory comes to you from your Lord, they say, "We were with you."Does not Allah know the most secret thoughts of everyone?"
The Spider/29:11 Surely Allah will reveal the believers and the hypocrites.
The Spoils of War/8:5 Indeed, your Lord took you out of your home for the fulfillment of a certain plan. A group of the believers disliked it.
The Spoils of War/8:6 They were disputing with you about it as if they were being driven to death while the truth was revealed.
The Repentance/9:49 "Some of them say, "Allow me, do not put me in distress". They have already fallen into distress with this attitude; Hell encompasses the disbelievers."
The Repentance/9:81 "Those who remained behind liked their place behind the Messenger of Allah and disliked to strive in the Way of Allah with their money and their lives and said: "Do not move in this heat,"they said. Say, "The fire of hell is hotter."If only they understood!"
The Coalition/33:10 They attacked you from above you and from below you. And the eyes were turned, and the hearts were in their mouths, and you were harboring various doubts about Allah.
The Coalition/33:11 The believers were tried there and shaken violently.
The Coalition/33:12 "The hypocrites and those whose hearts were diseased were saying: "The promise of Allah and His messenger to us is nothing but a pipe dream!"
The Coalition/33:13 "A group of them were saying, "People of Yathrib, you cannot hold on any longer; go back."The other group of them were asking permission from the Prophet, saying, "Our houses are unprotected,"even though their houses were protected. Their whole purpose was to escape."
The Coalition/33:19 They are stingy in their dealings with you. When danger comes, you see them looking at you with their eyes wide with fear, like one who has fallen into a faint of death. And when the danger passes, they hurt you with sharp tongues, being fond of wealth. Such people are not believers. That is why Allah makes their deeds vain. This is easy for Allah.
The Family Of Imran/3:154 "Then after that sorrow, He sent down upon you a safe sleep which calmed a group of you. Some of you were self-absorbed and self-centered, forming false ideas about Allah, as in the days of ignorance, and saying, "Do we have any authority in this matter?"Say, "All authority belongs to Allah."They were hiding in their hearts what they did not reveal to you. They say, "If we had any authority, we would not have been killed here."Say, "Even if you had been in your homes, those among you who were appointed to die would have crawled to the place where they would have fallen."Allah thus tries what is in your breasts and purifies what is in your hearts. Allah knows the most secret thoughts."
The Cow/2:143 So We made you a clear-minded people so that you may be witnesses among the people and the Messenger may be a witness among you. And We changed the Qiblah, which you used to turn towards, to distinguish between those who follow the Messenger and those who turn back on their heels. Surely this is too much for anyone except those whom Allah guides. Allah will not make your faith vain. Allah is Compassionate to mankind, Most Merciful.

The Women/4:141 "They keep watch over you. When a victory comes to you from Allah, they say, "Were we not with you?"And when it is the turn of the disbelievers to win, they say, "Did we not protect you from the believers by supporting you?"On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will judge between you. Allah will not give the disbelievers the opportunity to rule over the believers."
The Iron/57:25 We sent Our messengers with clear proofs and sent down with them the Book and the Law so that the people may observe justice. And We sent down iron, which has great strength and benefits for the people, so that Allah may distinguish between those who support Him and His messenger in faith. Allah is the Mighty, the Superior.
The Spoils of War/8:41 If you believe in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our servant on the Day of separation, on the Day when the two armies met, then know that one-fifth of every booty that you take belongs to Allah and His Messenger. This share is for the relatives, orphans, the poor and the stranded. Allah is the All-Sufficient.
The Repentance/9:16 Do you think that you will be left until Allah knows and distinguishes between those among you who strive hard for Him and those who take none as close friends except Allah and His Messenger and the believers? Allah is All-Knowing of what you do.
The Repentance/9:42 "If it had been a near benefit and a journey of moderate length, they would have followed you, but the way seemed far to them. They will swear by Allah: "Had we been able, we would have gone out with you."Thus they ruin themselves. Allah knows that they are liars."
The Repentance/9:43 Allah has forgiven you: Why did you allow them before the truthful and the liars became clear to you?
The Repentance/9:44 Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day do not ask your permission (to escape) from striving with their money and their lives. Allah is All-Knowing of the righteous.
The Stories/28:57 "They said, "If we followed your guidance, we would be driven from our homes. Did We not settle them in a safe and holy place where every kind of produce from Us is gathered as sustenance? But many do not know."
The Banishment/59:11 "Have you not noticed those who are hypocrites? The disbelievers among the people of the Book say to their friends, "If you are driven out, we will go out with you, and we will not obey anyone against you. If you are fought, we will certainly support you."Allah bears witness that they are liars."
The Banishment/59:12 Indeed, if they are driven out, they will not go out with them. If they are fought against, they will not support them. Even if they support them, they turn their backs and flee, then they will not be helped.
The Banishment/59:13 You put fear in their hearts more than Allah. For they are a people without understanding.
The Banishment/59:14 They cannot come together to fight you except in well-protected cities or behind walls. Their strife between them is fierce. You think them to be united, but their hearts are scattered. For they are a people who do not use their minds.
The Repentance/9:75 "Some of them even promised Allah, "If He grants us out of His bounty, we will spend our money for charity and we will be of the righteous people."
The Repentance/9:76 But when He gave them out of His bounty, they became stingy and turned away.
The Repentance/9:77 Because they broke their promise to Allah and lied, He put hypocrisy in their hearts until the Day when they will meet Him.
