The Table Spread - 5:18 "The Jews and Christians said, "We are the children and lovers of Allah. "Then why does He punish you for your sins? You are only of His creation,"say. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and to Him is the return."
Examples of the sins of the people of the Book:
The Cow/2:85 After all this, you still kill one another and drive out a group of you from their homes and unite against them in evil and enmity. It is already forbidden for you to drive them out of their homes, and as if that were not enough, when they are captured by you, you demand ransom from them. Or do you believe in part of the Book and disbelieve in part of it? What is the recompense for those who do so but disgrace in the life of this world and the harshest of torments on the Day of Resurrection? Allah is not heedless of what you do.
The Cow/2:140 "Do you claim that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and their descendants were Jews or Christians? Say: "Do you know better or Allah? Who is more unjust than he who conceals what Allah has revealed? Allah is not heedless of what you do."
The Family Of Imran/3:69 A group of the people of the Book want to lead you astray. They only mislead themselves. They do not even realize it.
The Family Of Imran/3:70 People of the Book! Why do you deny the Verses of Allah while you are witnesses?
The Family Of Imran/3:71 People of the Book! Why do you confuse right and wrong and knowingly conceal the truth?
The Family Of Imran/3:72 "A group of the people of the Book said: "Believe in what has been sent down to the believers at the beginning of the day and disbelieve at the end. So that perhaps they may turn away from their religion."
The Family Of Imran/3:78 "Some of them try to make what is not in the Book resemble the Book by twisting their tongues so that you may think that what is not in the Book is in the Book, and they say, "This is from Allah"when it is not from Allah. They knowingly lie in the name of Allah."
The Family Of Imran/3:100 Believers! If you follow some of the people of the Book, they will turn you back to disbelief after you have believed.
The Women/4:44 Do you not see that those who have been given a share of the Book have bought error and wish that you should go astray?
The Women/4:51 "Do you not see those who have been given a share of the Book? They believe in idolatry and false doctrines, and say of those who disbelieve, "These are more rightly guided than those who believe"."
The Women/4:155 "Allah sealed their understanding because of their breaking their word, because they disbelieved in the signs and proofs of Allah, because they killed the prophets unjustly, and because they said: "We are fixed-minded", yes, because of their disbelief. Therefore few of them believe."
The Women/4:160 Because of the injustice committed by the Jews and because they turned many away from the Way of Allah, We forbade them the good things that were lawful before.
The Women/4:161 Because they practiced usury when they were forbidden to do so, and ate the people´s money unjustly... We prepared for their disbelievers a painful torment.
The Table Spread/5:41 "Do not let not the zeal of those who say with their mouths, "We believe"but do not believe with their hearts grieve you. There is a group of the Jews who listen to lies and listen to a people who have never met you. They twist the meaning of words. They say, "If this is given to you, take it, and if not, beware."If Allah wishes to mislead anyone, no one can help him against Allah. Those are they whose hearts Allah does not wish to purify. For them is humiliation in this world and a great torment in the Hereafter."
The Table Spread/5:42 They listen to falsehood and eat illegally. If they come to you, judge between them or turn away. If you turn away from them, they can do you no harm. If you judge, judge between them with justice. Allah loves the just.

The Repentance/9:30 "The Jews said: "Uzeyr is the son of Allah". And the Christians said: "Christ is the son of Allah". This is the word of their mouths. They imitate the words of those who disbelieved before. Allah will condemn them. How are they being converted?"
Mary/19:58 These are some of the prophets whom Allah has blessed. From the descendants of Adam, from those whom We carried with Noah, from the descendants of Abraham and Israel. They are those whom We have guided and chosen. When the verses of the Most Merciful are recited to them, they prostrate themselves weeping.

We gave the believers among them their reward, but many of them were astray.
