بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
2:241 Divorced women should also be given a suitable subsistence allowance. This is the duty of the righteous.
2:242 This is how Allah explains His verses so that you may reflect.
2:243 "Have you noticed those who left their homes for fear of death, though they numbered thousands? Allah said to them, "Die,"then He raised them up. Allah is gracious to mankind, but most of the people do not give thanks."
2:244 Fight in the way of Allah. Know that Allah is Hearing, Knowing.
2:245 Who offers to Allah a good reward to be paid in multiples? Allah is the one who shortens and the one who opens. To Him you will be returned.
2:246 "Did not this incident attract your attention? The elders of the Children of Israel said to one of their prophets after Moses, "Appoint us a king so that we may fight for the cause of Allah. He said, "What if war is necessary and you do not fight?"They replied, "Why should we not fight in the cause of Allah when we are driven away from our homes and our children?"But when war was obligatory upon them, they turned away except a few. Allah Knows the wrongdoers."
2:247 "Their Prophet said to them, "Allah has appointed Talut as king over you."They said, "How can he rule over us when we are more worthy of rule than he? And he is not a rich man."He said, "Allah has chosen him over you. He has increased his knowledge and physical strength."Allah gives His property to whom He wills. Allah is Generous, All-Knowing."
2:248 "Their Prophet said to them: "The proof of his sovereignty is that the Ark has come to you. In it you will find a peace from your Lord and a remnant left by the people of Moses and Aaron. It is carried by angels. There is a proof in this that will convince you if you believe."
2:249 "When Talut took command of the army, he reported: "Allah will test you with a river. Whoever drinks from it is not from me. Whoever does not taste it but only takes a sip with his hand is from me."They all drank from it except a few. When he crossed the river with those who believed with him, they said, "Today we have no strength to resist Goliath and his army."And those who believed that they would meet Allah said: "How many a small company has defeated a large company by Allah´s permission. Allah is with the patient."
2:250 "When they met Goliath and his army, they said: "Our Lord, give us strength to resist, keep our feet firm, and help us against the disbelievers."
2:251 Finally they defeated them by Allah´s permission. David killed Goliath. Allah gave him sovereignty and understanding and taught him whatever He willed. The earth would have been corrupted if Allah had not repelled some of the people with some of the people. But Allah is gracious to all creatures.
2:252 These are the signs of Allah which We recite to you as truth, and surely you are one of the messengers.
2:253 And We favored some of those messengers more than others, for example, with some Allah spoke, and with some He raised them in degrees. We gave clear proofs to Jesus son of Mary and supported him with the Holy Spirit. Had Allah willed, those who came after them would not have quarrelled with one another after clear proofs had come to them. But they differed. Some believed and some disbelieved. Had Allah willed, they would not have fought one another. But Allah does what He wills.
2:254 Believers, distribute out of what We have given you before the Day comes when there will be neither exchange nor friendship nor intercession. Those who disbelieve are the wrongdoers.
2:255 Allah: There is no god but He, the Living, the Everlasting. He is neither slumbering nor slumbering. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Who can intercede with Him without His permission? He knows their past and their future. They cannot comprehend anything of His knowledge except as He wills. His sovereignty covers the heavens and the earth. He does not tire Him to guard them. He is the Exalted, the Great.
2:256 There is no compulsion in religion. So the truth is separated from error. Whoever disbelieves in Taghut (despots and evil doctrines) and believes in Allah, he has clung to an unbreakable and firm bond. Allah Hears, Knows.
2:257 Allah is the sovereign and the friend of those who believe; He brings them out of darkness into light. But the friends of those who disbelieve are fierce men; they bring them out of light into darkness. They are the people of the Fire, they will abide therein forever.
2:258 "Did you not notice the one who disputed with Abraham about his Lord when Allah had given him sovereignty? When Ibrahim said, "My Lord is He who gives life and kills,"he said, "I also give life and kill."Ibrahim said, "Allah brings the sun from the east. Why don´t you bring it from the west?"The disbeliever was astonished. Allah does not guide the unjust people to the truth."
2:259 "Or like that person (did you not notice). He comes to a ruined town and says, "How can Allah bring it back to life after its death?"So Allah resurrected him after he had been dead for a hundred years. He said, "How long did you stay here?"He said, "I stayed here for a day or part of a day.""No, you stayed a hundred years. Look at your food and drink, still intact. Look at your donkey. We have made you a proof for the people. Behold the bones, how We put them on top of each other and then clothe them with flesh."When the situation became clear to him, he said, "Now I know that Allah is all-powerful."
2:260 "Abraham said, "My Lord, show me how You raise the dead."He said, "Or do you not believe?"He said, "Yes, but to strengthen my heart.""Take four birds and examine them thoroughly (recognize their different characteristics). Then place a piece of them on each mountain. Then call them. They will come to you immediately. Know that Allah is Mighty, Wise."
